Concierge · Syros, Cyclades
Where the residence sends its guests

In short
Ermoupoli's restaurant scene runs from Cycladic tavernas near the port to modern kitchens in the neoclassical lanes. Reserve everywhere in July and August; the concierge at Syra di Giovanni 1862 keeps a private list and arranges tables including at the taverna that takes no reservations.
Chapter 01
Style, not a ranking
The residence does not publish a top-ten list — Ermoupoli is small enough that the same place is right one night and wrong the next. Instead the concierge asks two questions: what did you eat yesterday, and how late do you want to eat tonight? Then a table is booked.
What follows is the frame we work from.

Questions
Frequently asked
- Do I need to book restaurants in Ermoupoli?
- In July and August, yes — especially for dinner after nine. In shoulder season and off-season, most places seat walk-ins. Guests of the residence book through the concierge.
- Is Syros known for its food?
- Yes. The island is known for loukoumi (Turkish delight-style sweets, a Syriot specialty since 1832), halvadopita, san Michali cheese, and Cycladic fresh fish. Ermoupoli's kitchens are considered among the strongest in the Cyclades.
